Joy of Community Foundation

Jesse Coker, one of our entrepreneurial partners, has worked with a group from his Peace Corp days to form a charitable foundation:

Joy of Community Foundation

From their Mission Statement:

We connect sponsors with the children of Uganda to provide healthcare, create access to an education, and promote international relationships. We do so by:

  • Outreaching to families who have limited or no ability to send their children to school

  • Working in collaboration between our JOCF American team and our JOCF Ugandan team in Engari

  • Providing sponsors with regular updates of sponsored children and families

  • Creating sustainable means for children to continue their educational path

Engari sub-county is found in the Kiruhura district. It’s 360 sq km, with a population of 59,500 people.  It is occupied by a number of tribes - Banyankore, Banyarwanda, Bafumbira, Bahima.
